JUNGLE WALKERS

Meet Luna, the full-figured, sweet-faced canine who lives at the Beach House regardless of who is paying the rent. She has no master, but manages to stay well fed by locals and tourists alike by batting her honey eyes and swinging her flirtatious tail. To the locals, she is known as Luna Llena (Full Moon), a funny pun explaining her orb like mid-section, but to us she is known as Marley’s girlfriend. They have been sniffing and chasing each other since our arrival and seem unabashedly aware of their adorable compatibility. In some ways, they are perfect opposites: one is black, the other white, one is scrawny, the other round, one is guarded, the other playful, but in other ways they are strikingly similar: both sport “attack mohawks”, sympathetic brown eyes, curly tails, and a wandering spirit.

Here they can be seen guarding our front porch, mostly from the monkeys who have been eyeing our overabundance of bananas. Note the solitary wine glass resting on our dining table, that was our only cup besides our coffee mugs, but it was recently shattered by a well-aimed stick that “fell” from the treetops (I think it was hurled by a cranky monkey, but alas, I have no proof).
